Who is India Lord?
Hi there!
My name is India Lord.
And here’s a secret right out of the gate. That’s not my real name.
India Lord is a pen name. In my other life, I’m an author, too, but I wanted to branch out and try something different. A different genre. A different style of writing. So I came up with a plan, and India Lord was born.
This is my (India’s) official bio:
An incurable romantic and a lover of reading—romance, of course—it was inevitable India Lord turned to writing next. India writes sassy, steamy romances with strong alpha heroes, curvy heroines who are no pushovers, and a happy ending. A must, in India’s opinion.
When India isn’t writing, she loves to walk and explore the countryside. She’s also a dedicated researcher of cheese scones—her favorite treat to eat with a cup of tea.
I adore reading contemporary romance and these associated tropes.
Small-town romances.
Steamy romances.
Stories with a happy ending.
Romances with a strong friend/family support system and community.
Along with writing books, I’m a huge reader. I have been from a young age, but like many people, I juggle lots of balls each day and find my reading time is reduced. That’s where shorter reads come into play. I’ve been enjoying novellas and short stories that leave me with a satisfied smile and fill my reading needs even when I’m crazy busy.
When I started thinking about branching out into a pen name, all these things came into play.
India Lord (me!) writes shorter romances that are set in a fictional small New Zealand town called Clare. They are steamy romances, and every one of them has a happy ending. No cheating.
CLARE INSTALOVE, the first series, is underway, with the first book, BADGE OF HONOR, due out on 5 December 2022.
As the name implies, in this first series, the falling in love happens quickly. All the heroes are ex-military. They know their minds, and they’re used to making quick decisions. A strong thread of friendship winds throughout the stories, and the characters pop into other books for cameo appearances. This is something I enjoy as a reader, so I’ve inflicted it on you, lovely reader. Be warned!
When can I expect a newsletter/post?
The quick answer—once a week on a Tuesday. That’s unless I have something time-sensitive to share with you, such as a special promotion.
With Substack, I can divide my posts into free and paid subscriptions. Most of my posts will be free, but I reserve the right to start a paid subscription in the future.
That’s all for now.
I’ll be back on Tuesday with an introduction to Badge of Honor, the first book in my new series.
Happy reading,
India.
